James B. Clark

James B. Clark (born May 14, 1908 in Stillwater , Minnesota , † July 19, 2000 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film editor and film and television director .

Life

Clark began working in film editing in 1937 . Up to and including 1960 he was involved in around 50 productions. In the 1950s he turned to directing. First he directed two episodes of the series Flicka , in 1957 he made his first feature film with the war film Under Fire . From the 1960s he worked exclusively as a director, for both cinema and television. His focus was primarily on animal films and series.

As an editor he worked several times with the director Henry Hathaway .

For his work on the film Schlagende Wetter he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Editing in 1942 .

The Directors Guild of America awarded him together with director Alex Segal in 1967 with a DGA Award in the category Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Television for their work on Death of a Salesman .
