criticism
After the film was released, it was panned by the New York Times film critic , Bosley Crowther, as a mishmash of South Seas eromatics and caricature of high priesthood and low clowning.
“Slowly flowing South Seas romance in a simple-minded exotic melodrama. (Remake of 'Bird of Paradise', USA 1932, directed by King Vidor. With Dolores del Rio, Joel McCrea) "."
