Delmer Daves
Delmer Lawrence Daves (born July 24, 1904 in San Francisco , † August 17, 1977 in La Jolla , California ) was an American screenwriter and director .
Life
Delmer Daves studied law , but never practiced a legal profession. After doing various film crew duties for a few years, he worked as an actor from 1928 to 1932 and, from 1929, primarily as a screenwriter. In 1943 he first directed the war film Destiny Tokyo .
The twisted under his direction film The Broken Arrow ( Broken Arrow ) from 1950 is one of the first indian friendly Western Hollywood . He is a very free-form adaptation of the historical novel Blood Brother of Elliott Arnold and focuses on the development of friendship between two historically authentic figures in the history of Arizona , the Chiricahua - chief Cochise (played by Jeff Chandler ) and the white scout and Postreiter Tom Jeffords (Portrayed by James Stewart ). He shot another successful western with count to three and pray ( 3:10 to Yuma , 1957).
1953 Daves appeared with the film Island of the Wrath Gods ( Bird of Paradise ) for the first time as a film producer. He was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his services in the film sector .
Since 1938 he was married to the actress Mary Lawrence . The marriage had three children.

In his honor is 1634 Vine Street on the Walk of Fame a star for Delmer Daves.
