history

The construction of the monastery was donated in 1667. The monastery was built until 1678. The monastery was destroyed in the Turkish War in 1683 and restored in 1686/1687. The garden wing on the east side was built in 1720/1723.

architecture

The two-storey square is built on the north side of the basilica. The cloister gate next to the main front of the basilica has a vertical gable with a niche and a figure of the Madonna and a cartouche with the inscription 1687. Above the arched entrance is a sgraffito by the artist GS (1959) to Johannes Capistranus (1386-1456), who in the period of the reconstruction of the monastery after the Turkish War was canonized (1690).

The cloisters in the south and east wings have groin vaults and show oil paintings in the shield arches with scenes from the life of Jesus with donor inscriptions and coats of arms with dates from 1688 to 1691.

The so-called winter church as the original refectory has five bays under a pressed barrel vault with stitch caps. In the late 17th century, the vault was given a rich stucco decoration as a frame for ceiling paintings. There are remarkable reliefs with the heads of Franciscan Fathers on the vaults. The ceiling was restored in 1977/1978.

The refectory has five bays under a barrel with stitch caps with round ceiling mirrors. The furnishings with inlaid paneling on the walls with a reading pulpit are from the first quarter of the 18th century.

The south aisle on the upper floor has a wrought iron grille in front of the oratory. An oil painting Madonna with saints is from the fourth quarter of the 17th century. A silver statue of the Virgin Mary with a Viennese inspection 1695 shows the maker's mark LI.

In the courtyard of the monastery there is a fountain with a stone figure of St. Johannes Nepomuk .
