French Cross Langenzersdorfer Strasse
The French cross is a wayside shrine on the wall of the house at Langenzersdorfer Straße 49 in Strebersdorf in the 21st Viennese district of Floridsdorf .
history
Several French are said to have been buried at the place of the wayside shrine in 1809. This memorial site was created at the beginning of the 19th century. The wayside shrine was walled in until 1967.
description
The French cross is a wide and low wayside shrine that is integrated into the house facade like a pilaster . At the top it closes off with a kind of blown gable . In the middle is a round arched end with a crowning cross made of metal. In the high, rectangular niche, which is glazed, there is a picture of the Holy Trinity and an image of the poor souls.
