history

The hill was laid out during the Seven Years' War by French troops who had occupied the city of Münden. The population from nearby Münden was used to build it. The cannons posted on the ramparts secured the city and traffic routes on which the enemy could approach. Opposing troops under Duke Ferdinand von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel , who had also built a hill on the opposite elevation of the Rabanenkopf as the later location of the Tillyschanze, also let themselves be shot at from here .
