The Fraser Point is a headland on the north coast of Laurie Iceland in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It lies between Marr Bay in the west and Mackintosh Cove to the east .
The first mappings were made in 1903 with the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition (1902-1904) under the direction of the polar explorer William Speirs Bruce and between 1912 and 1913 by the Norwegian whaling captain Petter Sørlle . Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations carried out another mapping in 1933 and named the headland after the Scottish zoologist Francis Charles Fraser (1903–1978), who was involved in the Discovery Investigations.
