The Fraser River is an approximately 118 km long tributary of the Labrador Sea in the northeast of the Labrador Peninsula in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador .

River course

The Fraser River rises at an altitude of 580  m not far from the provincial border with Québec . It initially flows south for 5 km and gradually turns east-south-east and finally east. The Fraser River now flows almost dead straight through a deeply cut valley along a fault . Between the river kilometers 16 and 55 is the almost 39 km long Tasisuak Lake , a river broadening that measures around 1400 m on average. The Fraser River eventually reaches the head end of Nain Bay , 35 km west of Nain . The Fraser River drains an area of ​​1606 km².

Fish fauna

In the Fraser River are lake trout , brook trout , lake trout , the bullheads -Art Cottus bairdii (mottled sculpin) and three-spined and nine-spined stickleback before.
