Women's Grand Lodge of Germany

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The women's grand lodge of Germany (formerly the grand lodge "Zur Humanität") is an amalgamation of feminine Masonic lodges . It is based in Berlin . It has 29 feminine Masonic lodges. It emerged from the Masonic women's circle "On Humanity and Resistance" founded in Berlin in 1949. The founding ceremony, which was preceded by a call in the press , took place on June 30, 1949. It was thus the first German exclusively female Masonic society, because mixed boxes of the " Droit Humain " existed in Germany as early as the 1920s.

The women's circle “On Humanity and Resistance” remained under the protection of the Grand Lodge of the Old Free and Accepted Masons of Germany (AFAM), District Berlin, after the two Berlin Grand Lodges (“ Royal York ” and “To the Old Duties”) according to the old duties ) had joined the grand lodge AFAM . In 1982 the grand lodge "Zur Humanität" was founded. This could happen because in 1982 two women's lodges were founded in Düsseldorf and Wetzlar , so that three masters from the chair (chairperson) of the three women's lodges that now exist could found the grand lodge (because according to popular belief, at least three member lodges are necessary). From now on, the Grand Master and the Grand Officials Council were able to carry out so-called light introductions in new boxes, ie officially found further member boxes.

As of 2020, the Grand Women's Lodge in Germany consists of 29 boxes in the following cities: Aachen, Berlin, Bielefeld, Darmstadt, Dortmund, Dresden, Düsseldorf (2 ×), Essen, Flensburg, Frankfurt, Göttingen, Hamburg, Hanover (2 × ), Cologne, Constance, Lippstadt, Mannheim, Munich, Münster, Nuremberg, Osnabrück, Potsdam, Reutlingen, Saarbrücken, Weimar, Wetzlar and Wiesbaden. In addition, there are Masonic circles with the aim of founding lodges in Aschaffenburg, Berlin, Bremen, Stuttgart and Bamberg.
