Frauen & Technik is the second album by rapper Pyranja . It was released on October 25, 2004 and was the first phonogram to be released on their own record company Pyranja Records . The only single release was the ballad-like piece Linien for you .
Emergence
After Pyranja had released her debut album Roots & Wings in 2003, she originally wanted to bring out a mixtape because, according to her own statements, she should have put too much pressure on herself for a regular successor. The recordings were made within four months. However, since she had gathered enough material in the meantime, she was encouraged by those around her to bring it out as an album, as it would anyway be viewed as what she was ultimately convinced of. With the support of groove attack , she then founded her own record company, Pyranja Records , to counteract negative experiences she had had with her previous releases. She then took on the promotion of the album on her own.
She came up with the album title after her colleague Sera Finale tried to persuade her to write a song with this title. After the recordings were finished, however, she discovered that such a piece was missing, whereupon she decided to name the album Women & Technology .
“I hear the saying all the time and I have to say that I find it really poor. I use the phrase ironically because rapping has a lot to do with technology, not only in terms of technology in the studio, but also in terms of styles, flow and lyrics. I play with the term "women & technology", everyone knows it, and everyone has to laugh when they hear the name of my album. In addition, it definitely sticks in people's heads. "
The single lines for you was released on October 11, 2004, two weeks before the album. Features on the album include Joe Rilla , Sera Finale , Fumanschu , Damian and BukuOne .
Cover and booklet
On the cover you can see Pyranja's upper body in the foreground; she wears a white flipped baseball cap and has crossed her arms. The expression on your face is very sarcastic. In the background you can see two blue, horizontal bars at the top and bottom, on which the name of the artist or the album title are written in capital letters; in between, the interior of a machine is shown in a black and white drawing. The cover can therefore be understood as an allusion to the album title. The booklet is kept rather simple. It contains explanations of the songs as well as thanks from the artist to certain people.

While the artist said that she had taken a lot of external perception into account at Wurz & Flügel and wanted to avoid negative reviews as much as possible, she was much more relaxed with Frauen & Technik . It was important to her that this album - unlike its predecessor - could no longer be pigeonholed in a very specific box. So it contains not only calm and profound songs but also some battle borrowings. An ironic swipe at the dominant male world with the typical scene clichés in the rapeseed scene is intentional: in the pieces Blondes Poison and Ab 18 , she uses the pseudonym Christiane Latte , which also represents her alter ego .
Social criticism
Germany 04 deals with the political situation in Germany in 2004 in the form of the Monday demonstrations against Hartz IV : “In principle, the parties want us to stop thinking. [...] before the elections everyone says that it will be better from now on, but who should believe you? "
“Whenever we turned on the television, we had to endure derogatory remarks about the East and the Monday demos against Hartz IV, including from politicians from high-ranking ARD reporters. That annoyed us immensely [...] People take to the streets because they are unemployed - and that doesn't just affect people in East Germany. Something has to be said about that. Also from others who see rap as a mouthpiece. You can't always rap about asses, tits and boobs. "
Love and longing
Lines for you , the only single release, represents a kind of love letter. In So oda so , hidden feelings are thematized, end credits are about love that is not reciprocated and represents a kind of outro; the background music goes in the direction of the “doomsday mood”. In the piece Nordcore Pyranja sings in the chorus. In terms of content, it's about the love for the Baltic Sea , where the rapper grew up. In addition, at the end of the second verse, the refrain from the song Westerland by the punk band Die Ärzte is quoted almost verbatim :

The bonus track Extended Search had already appeared on their debut album Roots and Wings ; on this album it is contained in a new version, the so-called Alphabeatz Rmx . The text deals with the same topic as lines for you , although it was written less in the style of a love letter.
