The Frauengasse (Pol. Ul. Mariacka ) is a street in the district of Main City in Gdansk / Gdańsk, Poland .

Location and history

The street begins at the Marienkirche and leads east to the Motlawa , to the medieval Frauentor and the directly adjoining House of the Natural Research Society .

With its narrow and richly decorated town houses and the supplements (raised terraces in front of the actual front door, which can be reached via often decorated stairs), it is an example of the former Gdansk street development.

In 1945 Frauengasse was completely destroyed and was rebuilt in the 1950s and 1960s.
