The Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Design Technology IEM , or Fraunhofer IEM for short , is an institution of the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research eV The institute is located on the Zukunftsmeile in Paderborn .

Tasks of the institute

The activities of the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Design IEM are applied research and development in the field of mechatronic systems with a focus on scientific automation, software technology and product development. Ansgar Trächtler is the director.

The institute was set up from spring 2011 to the end of 2015 with the support of the Fraunhofer IPT as the Fraunhofer project group for design technology mechatronics . Since January 1, 2016, the project group has been independent, initially as a Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronics Design , and from January 1, 2017 as the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronics Design under the direction of Ansgar Trächtler .
