Fray Marcos is a town in Uruguay .

geography

Fray Marcos is located in the Florida Department in Sector 2 of the Cuchilla del Chamizo . The Cuchilla del Vejigas extends to the south beyond the border formed by the nearby Río Santa Lucía to the neighboring Canelones . Fray Marcos is bordered by the Arroyo Chamizo Gande flowing to the west and the Arroyo Latorre flowing to the east . The latter flows south of the village into the Río Santa Lucía. The closest settlements in the department area are Chamizo in the west and Casupá in the northeast. The town of Bolívar is also in the immediate vicinity in Canelones to the south .

history

On July 5, 1956, Fray Marcos was established by the legal regulation of Ley No. 12,297 classified as a villa .

Infrastructure

The route 7 , which the route 94 meets here , leads through the village . In addition, the Montevideo - Nico Pérez railway runs through Fray Marcos.

The population of Fray Marcos is 2,398 (as of 2011), 1,150 of them male and 1,248 female.
