fre: ac is a CD-Ripper - software for ribs and converting of audio signals . It is licensed under the GPLv2 and thus represents a free alternative to well-known adware programs such as the Audiograbber . Fre: ac is also largely platform-independent.
history
fre: ac was published in 2001 by Robert Kausch under the name BonkEnc , as it was primarily intended for creating audio files in the lossless Bonk format.
The first stable program version 1.0 appeared on February 21, 2007. BonkEnc was renamed fre: ac with the release of version 1.0.17 on November 14, 2010 .

The audio formats WMA , Ogg Vorbis , MP3 , MP4 , AAC , WAV and the lossless audio format Bonk are supported .
Awards
In October 2015 won fre: ac the SourceForge award Community Choice Project of the Month , and in May 2018 the Staff Pick Project of the Month .
