Chanan Safir Colman (born March 10, 1984 in Gladsaxe ) is a Danish basketball player who also has Israeli citizenship. He is considered one of the best players in Danish basketball history.

Life

Colman played in his home country Denmark for the clubs BMS Herlev and Stevnsgade . After the 2002/03 season, in which he played with Stevnsgade in the Danish first division and averaged 10.8 points per game, the 1.90 meter tall player moved to the United States . There he played during the 2003/04 season in the state of Florida for the team of Chipola College.

In 2004 he signed a professional contract with the Finnish first division club Lappeenranta NMKY and came to an average of eleven points per game in the Korisliiga during the 2004/05 game and became Finnish champions. In the summer break of 2005, the Dane was announced as a new addition to the German second division team Ratiopharm Ulm , but the contract was terminated shortly afterwards. Colman returned to Finland and to Lappeenranta NMKY, where he built on the previous year's performance in the 2005/06 season and once again won the championship title.

Colman, whose mother comes from Israel, was under contract with Elitzur Ashkelon in 2006/07 and Gilboa / Afula (both first Israeli league) in 2007/08. At the beginning of the 2008/09 season he briefly strengthened Roskilde BBC in the Danish first division and excelled in six missions with 22.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.2 basket assists per match. He left Roskilde to again accept an offer from Lappeenranta NMKY, in 2009 he moved to Honka Espoo within the Finnish Korisliiga .

In the summer break of 2010 he signed a two-year contract with the Danish first division club Svendborg Rabbits. In both years of his contract, Colman was top performers in Svendborg and was Danish runner-up with the team. In 2011/12 in particular, he triumphed when he scored 15.7 points per game.

In 2012/13 he was under contract with Maccabi Haifa in Israel and won the Israeli championship title with the team. In 2013/14 the Dane first played at Hapoel Jerusalem before moving to Maccabi Rishon during the course of the year . Colman started the 2014/15 season in the Danish league and played nine games for Randers Cimbria (12.1 points / game) before returning to Maccabi Haifa in Israel's top division in December 2014. In the 2015/16 season, Colman in a Haifa shirt achieved his best points to date in the Israeli first division (10.1 points / game).

In 2016/17 he was a top performer at Hapoel Eilat, was also under contract with UNET Holon in Israel in 2017/18 and scored 9.3 points and 2.8 assists per game at Be'er Sheva during the 2018/19 season. In the summer break of 2019 he moved back to Denmark and joined the first division club BMS Herlev to play as a coach there under his younger brother.

National team

Colman was a Danish youth international, later he also played international matches in the men's national team.
