Fred Ludwig Sepaintner

Fred Ludwig Sepaintner (born 1949 in Mannheim ), historian, biographer, member of the board of the commission for historical regional studies Baden-Württemberg is editor of the Baden-Württemberg biographies.

Live and act

Fred Ludwig Sepaintner studied history, politics and German studies at his birthplace Mannheim and received his doctorate on the Reichstag elections in the Grand Duchy of Baden 1871–1912 . Since 1977 he has worked at the General State Archives in Karlsruhe . In 1982 he was transferred to the Freiburg State Archives as head of the State Description Department . In this function, the district descriptions of Konstanz, Lörrach and Emmendingen were created. Since 1992 he has been a member of the commission for historical regional studies of Baden-Württemberg, since 2001 its board member. Sepaintner published numerous articles in the Historical Atlas of Baden-Württemberg, including elections, population development and denominational structure. Fred Ludwig Sepaintner, who worked early with Bernd Ottnad, the former head of the Freiburg State Archives, has been the editor of the series since vol. 4. He did this work on a voluntary basis.
