Günther Leimstoll

Günther Leimstoll (born April 29, 1922 in Berlin ; † June 19, 2000 in Stuttgart ) was a German band leader , guitarist , composer and arranger .

Life

After the war, Leimstoll made his first appearances in various clubs and bars, including the American officers' club in Stuttgart. In 1951 he was hired as a guitarist by Erwin Lehn , who was then head of the Südfunk-Tanzorchester . After the Lehns band had been downsized, Leimstoll founded his own ensemble with changing composition and name (Günther Leimstoll Combo, Günther Leimstoll Ensemble, Günther Leimstoll & his soloists, Günther Leimstoll and his dance orchestra, Günther Leimstoll & his Stuttgart folk musicians), which performed at numerous events of the SDR and other occasions and published several recordings. He also worked for the film and advertising industries in the 1960s and 1970s.

Leimstoll died in Stuttgart in June 2000 and found his final resting place in the Ostfilder cemetery in Stuttgart-Sillenbuch .
