Fred Morrison

Fred Morrison (born 1963 in Bishopton , Renfrewshire , Scotland ) is one of the most famous bagpipers in the world. From the age of 9 he was taught the bagpipes by his father - his name was also Fred.
Fred Morrison received the following awards for his bagpipe game:
- the gold medal of the World's premier piping competitions at the Northern Meeting in Inverness
- the gold medal of the Argyllshire Gathering in Oban
- seven times the Macallan trophy of the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany Lorient
- 2004 Award Instrumentalist of the Year of the Scots Trad Music Awards .
In addition to his solo career, he played for a short time with the folk group Clan Alba and for three years with Capercaillie .
