Capercaillie is a British folk rock group from Scotland formed around 1984 by Donald Shaw and Karen Matheson.

The name is the English (from Scottish Gaelic ) expression for capercaillie .

In 1984 they released their first album Cascade . With the song Coisich A Ruin , a single sung in Scottish Gaelic made it into the UK Top 40 for the first time in 1992 . For the album Delirium , on which this title is included, Capercaillie received a gold record .
