Fred Robert Heiker

Fred Robert Heiker (born July 1, 1949 ) is a German chemist and manager.

Life

Heiker received his doctorate in chemistry from the University of Hamburg in 1980 (dissertation: synthesis of chiral valienamine ). He then worked at Bayer AG as laboratory manager at the Wuppertal plant. From 1985 he worked for the Bayer subsidiary Miles Laboratories in Elkhart in the USA (Assistant to the Senior Vice President Science & Technology) and in 1986 he was back at the Wuppertal plant as Head of Chemical Research 3. In 1988 he became Head of Chemical Research 2 Central Research at the Leverkusen plant. In 1990 he became head of research and a member of the management team at the Bayer Yakuhin subsidiary in Osaka. In 1993 he was back in Wuppertal as head of chemical research pharmaceuticals and in 1996 he became head of research for crop protection at Bayer's agricultural center in Monheim. In 2000, he became head of the Central Service Department, Central Research. In 2002 he became head of corporate planning and controlling at Bayer AG. From 2003 to 2005 he was managing director of the newly founded subsidiary Bayer Innovation GmbH.

In 2000 he became an honorary professor at the Bergische Universität / Comprehensive University of Wuppertal. From 2009 to 2012 he was visiting professor of medicinal chemistry at the National University of Singapore.

In 2002/03 he was President of the Society of German Chemists .
