Frederick Smith (zoologist)
Frederick Smith (March 30, 1805 - February 16, 1879 ) was a British entomologist .
Life
The trained engraver Smith worked after the death of Edward Doubleday (1810-1849) as an assistant in the " Zoology " department of the British Museum from 1849 as a specialist in hymenoptera . From 1875 until his death he worked as a senior assistant in the same department.
Smith was President of the London "Society for Entomology" in 1862/63 , which later became the " Royal Entomological Society of London ".
