Fredrik Bekken

Fredrik Raaen Bekken (born March 11, 1975 in Drammen ) is a former Norwegian rower .

Bekken won the silver medal at the Junior World Championships in 1991 in a double scull with Sigurd Hadler Olsen, and in 1993 he won the single . In 1994 he finished seventh in the single at the U23 World Championships . At the Olympic Games in Atlanta , Bekken reached the A-final in one and finished sixth. After Bekken was third in the 1997 World Cup in Paris and second behind Iztok Čop in Lucerne , he only achieved tenth place at the World Championships . In 1998 he finished seventh at the World Championships .

In 1999 Fredrik Bekken formed a double scull with Olaf Tufte and won the first World Cup regatta in Hazewinkel, Belgium. After a second place in Vienna behind the Slovenes Iztok Čop and Luka Špik, Bekken and Tufte won in Lucerne. At the World Championships in St. Catharines , the two Slovenes won ahead of the Germans Sebastian Mayer and Stefan Roehnert , Bekken and Tufte received the bronze medal. In the 2000 World Cup, the Slovenes won ahead of the Norwegians in Munich and Lucerne, and in Vienna the Norwegians won ahead of the Italian double scull. At the Olympic Games in Sydney , Bekken and Tufte received the silver medal behind the Slovenes and ahead of the Italians.
