Fredy Gsteiger

Fredy Gsteiger (* 1962 in Bern ) is a Swiss journalist and author .

Life

Gsteiger studied economics at the University of St.Gallen HSG and later political science at the Université Lyon II Lumière and the Université Laval in Québec. He initially worked for the Bernese "Bund" and the "St.Galler Tagblatt". From 1988 to 1997 he worked for Die Zeit , where he was, among other things, Middle East editor and then France correspondent. From 1997 to 2001 he was editor-in-chief of Weltwoche . Since 2002 he has been working for Swiss Radio DRS , today's Radio SRF , where he is diplomatic correspondent . Since 2006 he has also been reporting as a correspondent for the UN . Since 2013 he has been deputy editor-in-chief at Swiss Radio and Television (SRF). From 2004 to 2012 he was a member of the Executive Board of the International Press Institute IPI in Vienna. Gsteiger was president of the jury of the Zurich Journalism Award until 2014 and has been president of the "Text" jury of the Swisspressaward since 2015.
