Freeden Bank

The Freeden Bank is a bank in the Antarctic Weddell Sea . It is located just off the coast of the Prinzregent-Luitpold-Land .
It is named at the suggestion of the surveyor and glaciologist Heinrich Hinze from the Alfred Wegener Institute after Wilhelm von Freeden (1822-1894), the founder of the North German Sea Observatory in 1867, which was transferred to the German Sea Observatory in 1875 . The designation was confirmed in June 1997 by the US Advisory Committee for Undersea Features (ACUF).
