Freezland Rock is a prominent, pointed and 305 m high cliff rock in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . It rises 5.6 km west of Bristol Island , 3.3 km west of Grindle Rock and 1.7 km west of Wilson Rock . The three named rocks lie in a line west of Bristol Island.
The British navigator James Cook named it Freezland Peak after Samuel Freezland, a sailor from his ship Resolution , who was the first to sight the South Sandwich Islands in 1775. Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations identified the rock in 1930 and modified the name.
