The Freiburg Prinzenapfel is an old variety of the cultivated apple .
It is a chance seedling that was found around 1860 in the Haseldorfer Marsch in Holstein and is now a local variety in northern northern Germany ( Schleswig-Holstein , Hamburg , Lower Saxony ).
It is round to slightly bell-shaped, has a yellow-green basic color and (on the sunny side) a red covering color. The pulp is white, juicy with a fine aroma - similar to the Finkenwerder Herbstprinz .
It is ready to be picked in October and can be enjoyed until February.
