The free game European championship 1957/1 was the 8th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from April 5th to 8th, 1957 in Antwerp . It was the first free game European championship in Belgium.
history
After various problems with the Union Internationale des Fédérations des Amateurs de Billard (UIFAB), the associations in Europe split up in 1956. This led to the establishment of the Fédération International de Billard (FIB), which hosted this championship. A memorable tournament took place in Antwerp, the metropolis of the world at that time. The local Joseph Vervest showed performances that were never before. With 207.18 he improved the GD-Europarerod significantly. The second, the Dutchman Cees van Oosterhout , also stayed above the old record. the Clement van Hassel had achieved last year. The tournament average has not yet been reached either.
mode
The game was played in a final round "everyone against everyone" up to 500 points. Extended series were counted.
