The Freie Schule Dreisamtal is an inclusive private school in Kirchzarten near Freiburg im Breisgau .
History and location
The school was founded by parents in 2003 and initially moved into temporary premises in Oberried. The move to the north-western outskirts of Kirchzarten took place in 2006. The orange school building can be clearly seen from the nearby federal road B31.
concept
Based on Maria Montessori, the school teaches around 90 pupils in grades 1 to 10. The learning is partly cross-age; grades 1–3 are combined as primary, grades 4–6 as secondary, grades 7 and 8 as tertia, and grades 9 and 10 as quarta.
The lesson consists of different blocks, which are designed either as an "offer" by the learning guide or as free work.
graduation
The pupils can leave the school after grade 9 with the secondary school leaving certificate, or after class 10 with the technical secondary school leaving certificate. It is also possible to attend secondary schools by taking a non-school student test.
