The St. Georgen Free Waldorf School is a privately owned school, the basis of which is Rudolf Steiner's Waldorf education . It is located in the Freiburg district of St. Georgen .
The school has existed since 1973. In addition to the FWS Freiburg St. Georgen, there is also the FWS Freiburg Wiehre and the FWS Freiburg Rieselfeld in Freiburg. Like all German Waldorf schools , it is a member of the Association of Independent Waldorf Schools . It is a two-class school with usually 24 students per class.
In addition to regular school operations, there is an after-school care center for children up to 4th grade with morning or afternoon care, as well as a cafeteria that offers hot meals on school days.

The FWS Freiburg St. Georgen consists of two building complexes. The school has two sports halls, an outdoor sports facility, three eurythmy halls, a school garden, a workshop courtyard, two auditoriums and a ballroom.
history
In 1972 the Waldorf School Association Breisgau e. V. founded. Lessons started on September 5, 1973 with 29 first graders, initially in Holbeinstraße as a parallel train of the FWS Freiburg Wiehre. In 1975 the company was able to move into its first school building, the Albertus-Magnus-Haus. Since the Albertus-Magnus-Haus was too small for a fully developed school, today's school grounds in Bergiselstrasse were taken over to build a new school building there, which was moved into in 1985. Classes in the new building started in 2008.
classes
Language lessons
The two foreign languages English and Russian are taught from the first year of school. Since the 2015/2016 school year, it has also been possible to choose Spanish as a second foreign language from year 9 onwards. The school sometimes supports students in doing a stay abroad. In justified cases, pupils from the 9th grade can be exempted from a foreign language. The Abitur examination can be taken in Russian and English. A language can be taken in order to achieve the secondary school leaving certificate and the technical college entrance qualification. You can also do the Abitur with the foreign language Spanish.
Handicraft lessons
At the FWS Freiburg St. Georgen there are classes in various specific craft areas. These include carpentry, blacksmithing, woodworking, basket weaving, painting and drawing, horticulture, copper drifting, sculpture, sewing and knitting, and plastic.
In order to further promote growing independence, from the 10th grade onwards there is the opportunity to set your own priorities in the fields of arts, crafts, computer and media studies, technology and the natural sciences. These are: architectural drawing, descriptive geometry, cardboard packaging, biological internship, and computer science.
Agricultural, field measurement, professional and social internships are offered in the senior school years.
Funding area
For pupils with special developmental characteristics, the FWS Freiburg St. Georgen offers a support area consisting of support teachers, eurythmy therapists, a speech artist and the school doctor.
A start has been made to train teachers as mediators or bullying officers. The aim is to win high school students as mediators and to develop a culture of conflict together. At the school there is a circle of trust made up of parents and employees. They try to resolve conflicts with those involved.
Circus Rosado and Rosado Big Band
Around 200 students rehearse in the Rosado Circus all year round. Older students guide younger students. This concept enables numerous social encounters. This work is crowned by the performances in autumn. The large circus band contributes significantly to the success.
