Free German culture

Free German Culture , also under the English title German anti-nazi monthly , was a German literary exile magazine and bulletin of the Free German Cultural Association in England , an organization of German emigrants in the United Kingdom .

The magazine appeared monthly from 1939 to 1945 in hectographic sheets. The editor was Max Zimmering from November 1941 . The publication was temporarily suspended between spring 1942 and July 1943; for a series of publications was published in place of the magazine, which continued to appear irregularly even after the magazine was resumed.

Staff members of the magazine included Johannes R. Becher , Lion Feuchtwanger , Erich Fried , Oskar Maria Graf , Oskar Kokoschka , Heinrich Mann , Thomas Mann , Anna Seghers , Berthold Viertel and Erich Weinert .
