Free sailing association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Free Sailing Association (FSV) had been responsible for the workers 'sailing clubs in Berlin since it was founded in 1901 in the German Empire and the Association for workers' sports clubs in all of Germany since 1924 . 1933 took place at the seizure of power by the National Socialist German Workers' Party , the DC circuit of the German sailing associations with the forced dissolution of the outdoor Sailing Association . In addition to the German Sailing Association and the German Sailing Association , it was one of the three major sailing associations in Germany after the First World War .

history

In the German Empire, sailing clubs that accepted people from humble backgrounds and workers' sailing clubs were denied membership and participation in competitions in a “civil” sailing association such as the German Sailing Association. This resulted in problems with the creation of rules and the necessary measurements for regatta sailing . That is why the Free Association of Touring Sailors Grünau (today TSG 1898 and SC Brise ) and the Fraternitas sailing club founded the Berlin Sailing Association in 1901 . The aim was to have a regional association for the organization of sailing regattas among the workers' clubs. In 1924 this task was extended to national associations and at the beginning of the year it was renamed the Freier Wettsegel-Verband , only to be renamed the Freier Segler-Verband at the end of the year . From 1925 clubs from all over Germany were accepted and one became a member of the Central Commission for Sport and Body Care , but membership in the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association (ATSB) was refused.

In 1931 the FSV had 42 associations as members with 2663 members and 1465 boats. When the NSDAP came to power in 1933, the Free Sailing Association was forcibly dissolved. The member clubs, sometimes with a change of name, had to become members of the German Sailing Association or the German Sailing Association . This means that there were three major sailing associations in Germany at the beginning of the 1930s. In addition to the outdoor Sailing Association and the German Sailing Association it was also resolved in 1934 by the National Socialists German Sailing Federation . Since then, the German Sailing Association has been the only umbrella organization for sailors in Germany.
