The Freifjord Tunnel is a single-tube road tunnel under the Freifjord between the islands of Bergsøy ( Gjemnes municipality ) and Frei ( Kristiansund municipality ) in the Norwegian province of Møre og Romsdal . It is part of the mainland connection to Kristiansund (“Krifast”) and has replaced the Høgset - Kvitnes ferry connection since 1992. The tunnel along the Riksvei 70 is 5086 meters long and at its deepest point is about 130 meters below sea level .
