Freud is a very small impact crater on a plateau in Oceanus Procellarum in the northwestern part of the front of the moon. It is located a few kilometers west of the Vallis Schröteri . This large, winding valley begins north of Herodotus crater and from there winds north, then northwest, and finally southwest until it reaches the shores of the lunar ocean .
