Freyre is a town in the department of San Justo in the central Argentine province of Córdoba . It is located about 24 km north of San Francisco and 240 km east of the provincial capital Cordoba .

history

Colonization began in 1883 when the landowner Don Crisólogo Oliva sold three fields in the province of Cordoba to José Bernardo Iturraspe and Antonio Agrelo. On September 9, 1886, Iturraspe initiated the establishment of the place about 3500 meters from the current position. The place initially consisted of a small church surrounded by 13 houses. On June 16, 1891, Iturraspe bought Antonio Agrelo's shares and became the sole owner of the land.

Triggered by the arrival of the first train, a slow but steady migration to the current location began in 1891.

Freyre is named after the name of the founder's mother. The patron saint is celebrated on October 7th in honor of the Virgin of the Rosary .
