The Friburguense Atlético Clube is a Brazilian football club from Nova Friburgo in the state of Rio de Janeiro .

Since the late 1990s, the club has been represented in the lowest division of the Brazilian national championship at regular intervals , most recently in 2012 in the Série D. Since 2012, it has been continuously represented in the first state league of Rio de Janeiro.

After 2011, Friburguense had reached the final of the Rio State Cup for the second time in the 2016 season and won it 4: 3 against AA Portuguesa after a 3: 2 and 3: 4 on October 22, 2016 in the decisive penalty game. However, Portuguesa immediately protested against this rating because Friburguense had used an unregistered player in the final first leg. The sports court of the Rio national association granted the complaint on October 28, 2016 and subsequently denied the evaluation of the final, whereupon the Portuguese cup was awarded. Friburguense has an appeal against this judgment at the next higher sports court.
