Fridolin Hofer

Fridolin Hofer (born October 26, 1861 in Meggen , † March 16, 1940 in Römerswil ) was a Swiss poet .

Life

Fridolin Hofer was born in Meggen on October 26, 1861, the son of the tailor and watchmaker Josef Franz Hofer. From 1877 to 1881 he completed the teachers' seminar in Hitzkirch , where his literary talent was promoted by seminar director Kunz. He then worked from 1881 to 1887 as a teacher in Buchrain and Lucerne . In the years 1888 to 1895, he earned his living as a teacher in Florence and trained the way self-taught in modern and ancient language on. He then stayed in Paris and in 1898 returned to Switzerland to his brother Jost, who ran a farm in Eschenbach . From 1907 he finally lived with his brother in Römerswil and helped in his farm. It was at this time that his works were first published.

Hofer, who remained unmarried, died on March 16, 1940 in Römerswil after years of serious health problems.

Act

Hofers convinces in his narrow poetry with lyrical verses and musicality . In terms of content, Hofer was primarily inspired by the rural world and nature. With one exception, his works are written in Standard German .
