The Peace of Vienna of June 23, 1606 was a peace agreement between the Hungarian nobleman Stephan Bocskai , Prince of Transylvania , and the Habsburg later Roman-German Emperor, the then Archduke Matthias of Austria . He ended the anti- Habsburg uprising in Upper Hungary led by Bocskai in 1605–1606.

The most important concession of Austria was that the Calvinist and Lutheran Hungarians in Upper Hungary, Royal Hungary and Transylvania had constitutional and denominational equality, i.e. H. Freedom of religion , was granted. In addition, Bocskai was recognized as Prince of Transylvania and the principality was granted the free, independent choice of its prince for the future.

The first lines of this Vienna peace treaty were immortalized at the beginning of the 20th century because of their importance, especially for the Calvinists of Hungary and Transylvania, next to the István Bocskai statue on the Reformation monument in the birthplace of Calvinism, Geneva .
