Friederike Henriette von Anhalt-Bernburg (born January 24, 1702 in Bernburg , † April 4, 1723 in Köthen ) from the Askanier family was a princess of Anhalt-Bernburg and, by marriage, princess of Anhalt-Köthen .

Life

Friederike Henriette was a daughter of Prince Karl Friedrich von Anhalt-Bernburg (1668–1721) from his first marriage to Sophie Albertine (1672–1708), daughter of Count Georg Friedrich zu Solms-Sonnenwalde .

She married Prince Leopold of Anhalt-Köthen (1694–1728) in Köthen on December 11, 1721 . In contrast to her husband, Friederike Henriette was hardly interested in music and she also managed to influence Prince Leopold to almost give up his devotion to music. This led to Johann Sebastian Bach turning away from Koethen and taking the position of Thomas Cantor in Leipzig.

Friederike Henriette, who suffered from “weak lungs”, died at the age of 21 and was buried in the St. Jakobskirche in Köthen .

progeny

From her marriage, Friederike Henriette had a daughter:

⚭ 1737 Prince Leopold II of Anhalt-Dessau (1700–1751)
