Ebelsberg cemetery
The Ebelsberg Cemetery is a cemetery in the Ebelsberg district of Linz . The cemetery is operated by the Ebelsberg parish . The cemetery and church are under monument protection.
history
The cemetery has been documented since the 13th century. However, it is likely to have existed since the 9th century, as recent research indicates. In 1787 the cemetery next to the church on Fadingerplatz was moved to its current location on Florianer Straße. It has been expanded several times; the oldest part is in the northern area near Wiener Strasse. The Ebelsberg cemetery was the cemetery for the Ebelsberg community, which was independent until 1938, and is now the only Linz cemetery south of the Traun.
Cemetery church
In 1957 the cemetery chapel of St. Borromeo, which was elevated to a branch church in 2007. In the altar are the relics of St. Gaudentius.
