The Theuma cemetery is a cemetery administered by the Evangelical Lutheran parish Theuma -Altensalz in the municipality of Theuma in Saxony . The cemetery is located on Mechelgrüner Straße and northeast of the Maria Magdalena Church . The cemetery wall is listed in the local register of monuments under registration number 08985664.

General and history

The Theuma cemetery was consecrated in 1866. The first burials took place that same year. In the years that followed, several crypts were built , some of which have been preserved to this day and are still in use. The Theuma fruit slate , mined in the village, was used for the crypt designs and a large part of the tombstones .

Opposite the cemetery entrance is the cemetery chapel .

Cemetery wall

The cemetery is enclosed by a wall made of Theuma fruit slate built in the 19th century. The cemetery wall was placed under monument protection due to its characterizing street appearance and its historical significance . The cemetery chapel interrupts the surrounding cemetery wall.
