Cemetery wall (Eppishausen)
The late Gothic cemetery wall fortified the former cemetery around the church of St. Michael in Eppishausen , in the Unterallgäu district , Bavaria . Over time, the wall was partially renewed. On the south side it is divided by pillar-like attachments with panel cover and the sloping inward pent roof with beaver tails covered. The cemetery wall and the gate tower are entered in the Bavarian monument list.
A stairway to the church is through the basement of the late Gothic gate tower made of brick masonry on the south side . Access is through round arches on both sides and is closed on the inside with a flat ceiling . There are memorial plaques for the fallen and missing of the First and Second World War . On the upper part of the south side of the gate tower there is the coat of arms of those of Thannek in a rectangular panel, as well as a wooden figure of the Archangel Michael in an arched niche above . This dates from the second quarter of the 18th century and shows the archangel defeating the devil . Further above there are two small arched openings. There is a double arcade in the gable on the north and south sides. From the east, a round arched door leads into the interior of the tower at a height of about 1.75 m. The door leaf is made of oak and has an iron pull ring. The shield-shaped iron fitting of the door is marked 1588 .
