Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Medal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Medal was an award of the German Gymnastics and Sports Federation (DTSB) of the German Democratic Republic , which was donated in 1961 as the highest award of the DTSB. It was the successor to the Ernst Grube Medal, which was also awarded until 1961 . The medal with a diameter of 32 mm is gold-plated and shows the head portrait of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn on its obverse as well as the three-line inscription below on the left: FRIEDRICH / LUDWIG / JAHN-MEDAL . The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest with a white enamelled clasp in the form of a stylized modern bow. In the loop ends, two red vertical median stripes can be seen on both sides, but the ends do not reach the edge of the clasp. The DTSB coat of arms is emblazoned between these median strips. The interim brace was of the same quality.
