The Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium in Königs Wusterhausen is one of two high schools in the city. It is named after the writer, philosopher and historian Friedrich Schiller .

history

The school was founded in 1956 as an extended secondary school on Friedensstrasse. In 1970 the school moved to a new building on Schillerstrasse, the current location. In 1977 the school was named EOS Vladimir Ilyich Lenin . After the political change, the school became a grammar school and was given the current name Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium in 1994.

In 1995 the first large extension took place. This included an internship room for physics classes and preparation rooms for natural sciences and art. The second large extension took place in 1996/1997. There was also an auditorium with a kitchen, which is also used for lunch, a music room, three classrooms and two seminar rooms.

Sports

The Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium or the previous school is known nationwide for the very good sports education. In particular, the volleyball players won the state championship of youth trained for the Olympics several times and thus took part in the respective national finals. Furthermore, the footballers and hockey players have already been able to take part in a state final several times and even win.

Computer science

The school offers advanced courses in computer science in the upper secondary level. High school students regularly take part successfully in the state computer science competition of the state of Brandenburg. The school is also successfully represented in the nationwide competition, the Informatik-Biber.

The school maintains school partnerships with the Danish Sorø Academy, a school in Germantown (USA) and a school in Petah Tikva (Israel).
