Friedrich Ludwig Adolf von Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym (born November 29, 1741 in Schloss Schaumburg ; † December 24, 1812 in Homburg vor der Höhe ) was the fifth and last Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg- Schaumburg-Hoym.

Life

Friedrich was a son of Prince Viktor I of Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym (1693–1772) from his second marriage to Hedwig Sophie (1717–1795), daughter of Count Wenzel Ludwig Henckel von Donnersmarck .

Initially in the Dutch service, Friedrich was the commander of the third regiment “Orange-Nassau” and later in the Swedish military service as major general . He succeeded his nephew Viktor II in 1812 as Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym, but died in the same year after an eight-month reign, unmarried and childless, with the result that the Schaumburg-Hoym branch of the male line became extinct. The paragiate fell back to the Bernburg main line. The allodial inheritance , which also included the county of Holzapfel with Schaumburg , went to the widow and daughters of his nephew Viktor. The county of Holzapfel with Schaumburg brought his great niece Hermine to the House of Austria. Prince Friedrich had already renounced the county on December 27, 1811.

He is buried in the crypt of the Bad Homburg Landgrave Castle.
