Friedrich August Nösselt
Friedrich August Nösselt, as a writer mostly just Friedrich Nösselt, (born May 18, 1781 in Halle (Saale) ; died April 11, 1850 in Breslau ) was a German writer and educator.
Career
Nösselt was a son of the theologian Johann August Nösselt . He studied theology in Halle . After his graduation in 1804 he only found a job at the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Berlin, went from there in 1806 as a Conrector and Castle Preacher to Küstrin, and in 1809 moved to Breslau.
There he first became a teacher at the Wilhelmsschule (which was Jewish until 1826) and at the same time founded a private girls' school. In 1812 he took up his final position as a teacher of history at the Maria Magdalenen High School. Most of his history books are specifically geared towards female students, i.e. for lessons in the girls' school affiliated with Magdalenen-Gymnasium.
In 1836 he also founded a seminar for future teachers.
He is the author of several historiographical books for school lessons, war reports on the Napoleonic Wars in Silesia and a guide for the city of Wroclaw with a city map.
His textbook on world history for daughter schools in four volumes has also been translated into French and Dutch.
