Friedrich Baur (landscape architect)

Friedrich Baur (born February 11, 1900 in Munich ; † January 10, 1977 there ) was a German gardening owner and garden and landscape architect . From 1947 to 1953 he was a Bavarian Senator.

After attending elementary school, Baur completed an apprenticeship as a gardener. After completing his military service, he worked in his parents' nursery in Munich. He trained as a garden and landscape architect at technical gardening schools. In 1921 he founded his own nursery and in 1932 took over the business of his parents, which he expanded into a large company in the following years.

After the end of the Second World War, Baur played a key role in the re-establishment of the Bavarian Horticultural Association (BGV). After Albert Ortmann resigned , he became its first chairman at the end of 1946. He held this office until 1952 and was later elected honorary chairman of the association.

In his function as BGV chairman, Baur was a member of the Chamber's constituent meeting of the Bavarian Senate on December 4, 1947 as a representative of the Agriculture and Forestry Group. He remained a member until December 31, 1953. From 1948 to 1949 and from 1952 to 1953 Baur was a member of the Finance and Budget Committee.
