Friedrich Botho zu Stolberg-Roßla

Count Friedrich Botho zu Stolberg-Roßla (born May 13, 1714 in Roßla ; † March 8, 1768 ibid) was an Electoral Saxon lieutenant general and since 1739 ruling count over the Roßla part of the County of Stolberg in the southern Harz, which was separated in 1706 .

Life

Friedrich Botho comes from the noble family of the Counts of Stolberg . He was the eldest son of Count Jost Christian zu Stolberg-Roßla senior (1676–1739) and Countess Emilie Auguste zu Stolberg-Gedern (1687–1730). His brother was Count Jost Christian zu Stolberg-Roßla junior . On June 17, 1739, he succeeded his father in the reign and was one of the first official acts to acknowledge the sovereignty of the Electorate of Saxony over the County of Stolberg in writing.

He married Countess Henriette Reuss zu Gera on November 21, 1746 (born June 13, 1723 in Gera; † August 27, 1789), the daughter of Count Heinrich XXV. Reuss zu Gera (1681–1748) and his second wife, Countess Palatine Sophie Marie von Birkenfeld-Gelnhausen (1702–1761). From their marriage u. a. the children Heinrich Christian Friedrich and Johann Wilhelm Christoph emerged.
