Andreas Kaspar Friedrich Busch (born April 24, 1798 in Glückstadt ; † August 17, 1877 in Aamot, Sweden ) was a German theologian and university professor with a pietistic orientation.

Life

Friedrich Busch was a son of the government secretary and later chief judge Paul Christian Busch and Margaretha Sophia Johanna, born Möller. He married Fanny Amalie Schmalz († 1846) in Berlin in 1826 . After her death, he married Mathilde Juliane Leuckfeld († 1877) in Addafer in 1849 .

career

Busch grew up in Glückstadt and attended school there. From 1817 to 1819 he studied theology in Jena and from 1819 to 1820 in Göttingen . During his studies he became a member of the original fraternity in 1818 . He completed his studies from 1820 to 1822 in Kiel with Claus Harms and from 1822 to 1824 in Berlin with August Neander and August Tholuck with a doctorate . From 1824 to 1849 Busch was a full professor of church history and theological literature at the University of Dorpat . In 1849 he retired , but still held individual lectures in 1850. In the years 1828 to 1829, 1834, 1836, 1839 to 1840 and 1842 to 1845 he was dean in Dorpat . In 1836 he became the Russian State Councilor and in 1846 received the Order of Vladimir IV class, which, according to the rankings , was equivalent to an elevation into the hereditary Russian nobility . After he stopped teaching in Dorpat, he went to Copenhagen as a private scholar and also taught at times in Glückstadt.

Busch was also the author of various theological treatises and from 1832 to 1840 editor of the Dorpatic Evangelical Papers .
