Friedrich Caliga deer

Friedrich Caliga-Reh , also Friedrich Caliga , (born December 26, 1858 in Darmstadt , † September 28, 1904 in Dessau ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Caliga-Reh, son of Theodor Reh and Oktavia Caliga (1826-1887), went to Milan after graduating from high school to train as a merchant. He did not remain loyal to the merchant class for long, but instead turned entirely to the stage after having studied singing with San Giovanni and Francesco Lamperti . He got his first engagement at the Stadttheater in Kiel, where he made his debut as "Manrico". From there he came to Leipzig. There he received further training from Anton Seidl . After Heinrich Vogl left , he went on a Wagner tour under Angelo Neumann's leadership, which took him to almost all countries and cities in Europe, including Berlin, Amsterdam, Karlsruhe, Brussels, Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Venice, Bologna, Rome, Turin, Trieste, etc. he worked at the city theaters of Aachen, Augsburg, Stettin, Basel and Halle until he appeared in Dessau in the spring of 1894 and was so popular that he was able to join the association of this stage from autumn of that year.

The artist, who married his colleague Auguste Ihle , who also took part in the Wagner tour, in 1883 , was appointed grand ducal chamber singer in 1900.

He died in Dessau in 1904 .

His brother was the politician Heinrich Reh .
