Francesco Lamperti (born March 11, 1811 or 1813 in Savona , † May 1, 1892 in Como ) was an Italian singing teacher.

Life

Lamperti was born in Savona. He studied at the Milan Conservatory , where he taught for 25 years from 1850. He was the director of the Teatro Filodrammatico in Lodi . From 1875 he only gave private lessons. Among his students were Emma Albani , Italo Campanini , Marie van Zandt , Herbert Witherspoon , David Bispham , Angiolina Ortolani-Tiberini , both Cruvelis, Collini and Désirée Artôt . His singing methodology was heavily influenced by the old Italian school. He published several books on bel canto and singing.

His son Giovanni Battista Lamperti (1839-1910) was also a well-known singing teacher.
